City Council invests in battery powered machines

Salisbury City Council have begun to invest in battery powered machines for use in the City’s parks.

The new equipment produces zero emissions making them environmentally friendly. The low noise levels means a nicer environment for staff and the general public and they are lighter than the traditional petrol equivalents making them easier for the operator to work with.

There is still a need for petrol machines as they are powerful and capable of handling prolonged use, however battery powered kit is evolving fast, manufactures say batteries are always improving and in the near future will be capable of longer usage times.

Salisbury City Council declared a Climate Change Emergency at a Full Council meeting on 17 June 2019 and are working to make Salisbury as carbon neutral as possible by 2030.
