On Sunday 22nd August, a Mayor Making event took place to celebrate the city of Salisbury and the new Mayor and Councillors which will include live music in Salisbury Market Place.
Earlier in the year, the election of the new Councillors and the new Mayor, Cllr Mrs Caroline Corbin was announced. Unfortunately the restrictions surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic meant that an event twas unable to happen. A celebratory event to mark the election took place on 22nd August.
On the day, a civic procession of visiting Mayors and invited guests left the Guildhall in procession via Fish Row, Butchers Row, Minster Street and into St. Thomas’s Church with a fanfare played by the Salisbury City Band of the Royal British Legion.
The Civic Party then made their way from St. Thomas’s Church via St Thomas Square and Blue Boar Row to the Guildhall for a private reception.
To conclude the celebration, Salisbury City Council teamed up with Colin Holton, the organiser of events such as Salisbury Live, to host a variety of performers and live music in Salisbury Market Place. The Mayor of Salisbury invited all guests and members of the public to attend the event.
