Voting in the local elections
You don’t just have to become a councillor to have your say about the city you live in! The local elections are your four-yearly opportunity to vote to elect the councillors in your ward, who will make decisions about your local community and its activities.
Applications to register to vote must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by 12 midnight on Friday 11 April 2025. To register to vote, click here.
How you can vote
You can vote in person, by post or ask someone to vote on your behalf (proxy vote).
If you are registered to vote, a poll card will be sent to you around 6 weeks before an election.
Your poll card tells you where your polling station will be – make sure to check as it might not be the closest one to where to you live, and it might have changed since the last time you voted. If you would like to find out where your polling station is in the run-up to an election, please contact the Wiltshire Council Electoral Services team on 0300 456 0112 or elections@wiltshire.gov.uk.
You do not need your poll card to vote although it will help the staff at the polling station if you bring it with you. You must bring photo ID with you to vote at the polling station. Click here for more information on accepted forms of photo ID.
Please click here for more information about how to vote in person. To find out more in regards to a postal or proxy vote, please click here.
