Join Salisbury City Council at Mayor Making 2026

On Saturday 9 May, Mayor Making will take place to officially present the Mayoral Chain from the outgoing Mayor to the new Mayor of Salisbury, marking the inauguration of the 765th The Right Worshipful the Mayor of the City of Salisbury.

The official Mayor Making Service and Full Council meeting of Salisbury City Council will take place in St Thomas’s Church at 12pm, which all are welcome to attend. The agenda will be published on the Salisbury City Council website.

In addition, this year a free family-friendly outdoor event will take place on the Guildhall Square from 11am to 5pm. Enjoy free craft workshops, delicious food, captivating street performances and live music! Salisbury Charter Market will also be open on the Market Place from 8.30am to 4pm.

A Civic Procession of visiting Mayors from neighbouring towns and cities, local dignitaries and invited guests will leave the Guildhall in procession at approximately 11.40am via Fish Row, Butchers Row, Minster Street and into St. Thomas’s Church with a fanfare played by Verwood Concert Brass. After the service, the Civic Party will make their way from St. Thomas’s Church via St Thomas Square and Blue Boar Row to the Guildhall, at approximately 12.50pm.
