A notice in the Book of Remembrance or a personally selected memorial can be a special tribute.

Remembrance

The book of Remembrance offers a beautiful and lasting memorial to those who have been cremated at Salisbury Crematorium. The book consists of two volumes, each volume displayed in the remembrance chapel. The pages are turned daily to reflect the current date, so that a lasting record appears at each anniversary date according to the date chosen. The date under which the entry appears in normally the date of death however any date can be chosen such as a birthday or a wedding anniversary.

Each inscription can consist of up to eight lines, with the minimum being a two line entry. Inscriptions can be illuminated by an emblem / motif of your choosing, for example a coate of arms, military, club or society badge, spray of flowers or bird. If you would like a special motif please include a detailed drawing or photo that the studio can work from. Please talk through the choices available with the crematorium staff.

Memorials

There are various memorials available at the Crematorium as a lasting tribute.

Plastic vases are provided for people wishing to bring flowers in memory of a loved one. Cut flowers can be placed along the Colonnade and outside the Book of Remembrance Chapel. There is usually a selection of vases on the Colonnade by the water tap and litter bin.

Please be aware that there is a herd of deer residing in the adjoining London Road Cemetery and they periodically enter the Crematorium Grounds and eat cut flowers/funeral flowers that are left at the crematorium.

Leaf

Situated on the wall of the corridor by the Colonnade at the Crematorium this tree sculpture is finished in bronze and each individual leaf has a brushed brass effect finish and each Tree of Remembrance Leaf is fixed to the Memorial Tree. They are a beautiful, simple memorial dedicated to your loved one.

Each Leaf is dedicated for a period of 5 years. After this time you may wish to pay another fee and keep it in position for a further 5 years or alternatively they can be collected for your own personal use.

Chapel Plaques

Brushed brass effect plaques are situated in the Remembrance Chapel and are mounted on solid oak boards. They are a simple but fitting way of remembering a loved one. They can be viewed every day of the year between 10am and 4:30pm. Each plaque can contain a maximum of 5 lines and 16 characters/spaces and are dedicated for a period of 10 years. After this time you may wish to pay another fee and keep it in position for a further 10 years or alternatively they can be collected for your own personal use.

Memorial Vases create a personal area where you can visit, reflect and place your floral tribute. The vases are made from polished granite with a cast bronze plaque bearing the name of the person to whom the memorial has been dedicated with a short inscription. We can provide a maximum of 5 lines and 16 characters/ spaces for each plaque. Memorial Vases are dedicated for a period of 10 years. After this time you may wish to pay another fee and keep it in position for a further 10 years.

Bronze Memorial Wall Plaques in cast bronze, bearing an inscription of your choice are another fitting tribute to remember your loved one. The plaques are placed on the Cemetery Memorial Wall opposite the Crematorium Chapel and each plaque can contain a maximum of 5 lines and 16 characters/spaces. Wall Plaques are dedicated for a period of 10 years. After this time you may wish to pay another fee and keep it in position for a further 10 years or alternatively they can be collected for your own personal use.

Memorial
Tablets

Memorial Tablets are placed in the peaceful setting around our Colonnade area which is overlooked by our dedicated Chapel. Tablets are available in crown stone, marble and Welsh slate with an inscription in gilt or inlaid with leaf. Each tablet provides a space for a maximum of 5 lines and 16 characters/spaces. Tablets are dedicated for a period of 15 years. After this time you may wish to pay another fee and keep it in position for a further 10 years or alternatively they can be collected for your own personal use.

Please note you should allow one month for your memorial vase, bronze plaque, tablet or Remembrance Chapel plaque to be produced.

Spring
Remembrance

In the spring there is nothing more beautiful than a thick carpet of daffodils. They flower year after year in living memory of loved ones who have been cremated at Salisbury Crematorium. Planting is carried out each Autumn but we can receive applications for the planting of bulbs at any time of the year.

Trees and
Benches

If you would like an alternative memorial to your loved one, now or at a future date, then why not consider a memorial tree and plaque in one of Salisbury’s beautiful parks or open spaces? Our Parks Team can help you choose a suitable tree and location, along with a plaque that will accompany your tree.

We can also arrange a memorial bench in a favourite spot in memory of your friend or relative in one of our many parks or the crematorium have several shared Memorial Benches within the grounds which can accommodate up to five individual plaques on each. The plaques are for a lease period of 10 years and Salisbury City Council will maintain these shared Memorial Benches. The Crematorium Manager and staff will be delighted to advise you on this.
