Salisbury residents have been selected to attend the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Beacon lighting
Platinum Jubilee Beacons
Over 1,500 Platinum Jubilee Beacons will be lit across the UK and Commonwealth on the first evening of the four-day Jubilee Weekend, continuing Royal tradition. The anchor chain will be amongst the first beacons to be lit in the UK and will be lit at 9.30pm.
Salisbury residents were given the opportunity to apply to attend the beacon lighting and 70 lucky applicants have now been picked at random by the Mayor of Salisbury.
Councillors, Deputy Lieutenant Dr Phil Harding and the Mayor of Salisbury will also be in attendance with refreshments kindly provided by The Field Kitchen.
The Jubilee Beacon should be visible from Hudson’s Field so do come on down and watch the lighting if you are in the area.
The Beacons will enable local communities and charities to join together in tribute to Her Majesty as part of the official programme of Platinum Jubilee events, giving thanks for the support she has extended to them over the course of her reign.
