Salisbury Shopmobility celebrated their dedicated volunteers with a naming ceremony

A scooter naming ceremony was held on 16 August 2022 in which three brand new scooters, all funded by Friends of Salisbury Shopmobility (FoSS), were named after three of Shopmobility’s longest serving volunteers.

Andy Thomson (Chairman FoSS), Hugh Abel (Treasurer FoSS) and Trace Gill (Fundraiser extraordinaire!) are all trustees of FoSS and between them have totted up nearly 60 years of volunteering and support.

They were warmly congratulated and thanked by the Mayor of Salisbury, Councillor Tom Corbin and Mayoress Caroline Corbin for their services to Shopmobility over the last twenty years or so.

Salisbury Shopmobility has worked in partnership with the registered charity “Friends of Salisbury Shopmobility” for many years to support the residents of Salisbury in maintaining their freedom and independence when mobility becomes difficult.

Support from our colleagues in FoSS comes principally by way of their raising funds for new and replacement equipment for use by Shopmobility customers.

Shopmobility is also supported by a substantial volunteer group, including FoSS members, helping us to manage the hire of scooters and wheelchairs around the city centre and providing a warm reception at our base in the Maltings.

If you have a spare morning or afternoon and would like to volunteer, please contact the team on 01722 328068.
