The Salisbury Parish Poll takes place this week
The poll question is “Do you support a 5% cap on future increases to the Salisbury City Council precept and a parish consultation if any proposed increase is larger than 5%?”
The polling stations will be at Salisbury Guildhall and Five Rivers Leisure Centre.
The table below shows where you need to go to cast your vote.
Salisbury Guildhall | Five Rivers Leisure Centre |
Harnham West ward | Bemerton Heath ward |
Harnham East ward | Fisherton and Bemerton Village |
St Edmund’s ward | St Paul’s ward |
Milford ward | St Francis and Stratford Ward |
If you are unsure of your ward, please view the maps provided by Wiltshire Council here and here.
Alternatively, you can check on the City Council’s website – use the “Your Councillor” webpage as shown here – just put in your postcode and your councillors and your ward will be shown.
The ward boundaries can be also seen on the ordnance survey map for the area.
To see this online, please follow this link Election Maps
Firstly, search for Salisbury and then on the left hand side select ‘Unitary Authority Electoral Divisions’
The map then shows the ward boundaries.
The hours of the poll are 4pm – 9pm. Voters cannot be issued with a ballot paper outside of that timeframe.
There will be no poll cards, postal voting or proxy voting – electors have to vote in person regardless of whether they are usually a postal voter or a proxy voter. Voter ID will not be required.
The conduct of the poll is the responsibility of the Returning Officer at Wiltshire Council. This included the choice of venues for the polling stations. The cost of the poll will be calculated by the Returning Officer, and an invoice passed to the City Council once costs are finalised, after the completion of the poll.
The relevant legislation is The Parish and Community Meetings (Polls) Rules 1987.
All questions about the conduct of the poll should be addressed to the Elections Team at Wiltshire Council.
