Time to Talk about Housing

Have your say

In a month’s time the people of Salisbury will be able to have their say on the draft Neighbourhood Plan for the city.

This covers a range of important topics, the most controversial of which is housing – the types of properties that people need, and where they should go.

If we don’t want all of our green fields developed we have to come up with other options, because the government sets building targets that simply have to be met. The question is whether they are met with the type of development that actually responds to local needs.

The volunteers from our community who have worked on this draft plan along with City Councillors over more than three years, have looked at some possible sites and want to find out what the public think about them. There will be a lot of detail about them in the Plan when it is launched on June 28.

In the meantime, to start this wider discussion, a short paper called Let’s Talk About Housing has been published on the City Council website here: https://www.salisburycitycouncil.gov.uk/your-council/neighbourhood-planning/let-s-talk-about-housing I urge everyone who is interested in the future prosperity of our city to take a look.
