Help keep Salisbury safe: volunteer as a CCTV operator

As part of Salisbury City Council’s CCTV monitoring service, a dedicated team of volunteer operators monitors the city’s state-of-the-art CCTV and radio system. The City Council is seeking volunteers to join the team and help keep Salisbury safe.

Working closely with the police, city partners and local businesses, volunteers play an important role in supporting public safety by observing activity across the city centre and reporting incidents when necessary.

The City Council is looking for people who:

• are aged 18 and over.
• can multitask effectively.
• are confident using technology.
• can think quickly and remain calm under pressure.
• have a keen eye for detail and passion for helping others.

Anyone interested in joining the volunteer CCTV team can apply by simply emailing Keith Jackson, Salisbury City Council’s CCTV Manager, at kjackson@salisburycitycouncil.gov.uk to express their interest.

Successful applicants will undergo a police vetting process before receiving comprehensive training to prepare them for the role.

The safety of residents and visitors remains a top priority. Whether people are shopping during the day, visiting local attractions or enjoying Salisbury’s nightlife, CCTV plays a vital role in creating an environment where everyone feels safe.
