Temporary safety measures at Poultry Cross

Following recent structural checks, it has been identified that temporary shoring of the Poultry Cross is required. As a precautionary measure, Heras fencing will be installed today (Tuesday 24 June) to secure the site while detailed drawings are prepared by the Structural Engineer.

Once these drawings are received, scaffolding will be erected to stabilise the structure ahead of full repair works.

This necessary measure also means a temporary relocation for some market traders, who have been moved to an alternative space nearby.
