On Thursday 11 August at Harnham Recreational Ground, Harnham Women’s Team played The Crocs (over 50’s) in a softball cricket match to cap off the inaugural season for the club. The teams were well matched and although the Women’s team triumphed scoring 142 in 21 overs the Crocs fought valiantly scoring 108. There was a huge amount of support on and off the pitch with over 20 supporters. The team give special thanks to Pete who plays for Village Freehouse (Harnham Adult’s Team) who ran a bar and provided much needed refreshments for the players and spectators. Read Me

The City Council is delighted to announce that from Thursday 1 Dec 2022 all street cleaning and maintenance of the city’s parks and open spaces will be undertaken by a team of wholly Salisbury City Council employees. Previously, parts of these services had been delivered by Idverde, but in Oct 2020 the City Council agreed that these services should be brought in house. By bringing these services in house it is hoped to provide more efficient and locally controlled services. An unavoidable consequence of the period of transition will be a temporary reduction of staffing levels until the recruitment process restores staffing to greater capacity. Obviously, this will in turn, temporarily result in a slightly reduced level of service. Some workers who previously worked for Idverde will transfer across to Salisbury City Council and will bring their experience of working in the city with them which will really benefit the team. 89. Poultry Cross Repair Works
On the final inspection of the Poultry Cross, the structural engineer located a previously undetected issue with a stone pinnacle, located above the damaged buttressing pier. With the support of the Underpasses Working Group in collaboration with Salisbury City Council and Wiltshire Council, a group of local young people from Splash Wiltshire, supported by local artist Fred Fieber have created a colourful mural in the Exeter Street underpass. The 2-day project was the second of its kind completed in Salisbury by Splash-Wiltshire.
